Hearts decision to release Adam Eckersley this coming summer is the single worst move made by any team in any league in Scotland this season. It’s not because Eckersley is a particularly great player – he’s all right and a team like Kilmarnock or Motherwell would be a suitable destination – it’s because the guy knows how to produce the funnies on social media.
We all know players are boring c***s in post match interviews. Well, you just have to follow a handful of them on social media to know the tedium isn’t exclusive to one-on-one chats with the media. Eckersley is the exception to this rule and it’s a side of him that’ll be sorely missed if no other SPFL club takes up the option to sign him.
His latest social media win demonstrated guy love for fellow Hearts teammate – who, ironically enough, has also been told to ‘get te’ this summer – James Keatings. Adam posted three photos ‘with James’ on his Instagram page.
1. Chillin’ in the bath
Hey, we’ve all had showers with other guys, so what’s a cheeky bath between close pals? Extra points for strong rubber duck game.
2. Just hangin’ out
A staple of every good friendship. The ability just to hang around the house, doing nothing, but still preferring that to an infinite number of others things that could occupy your time. Keatings does look a little chilly, though. Turn the heating up Adam!
3. Post-threesome rest
Hey, who are we to judge? If your missus really wants to be a Chinese finger-trap then surely you’d want your best pal at the other end? You wouldn’t want a stranger would you?
Adam, if you depart Scottish football in June, you shall be sorely missed. And not just by Mr Keatings.
