Made around 400 appearances at Tannadice, was the first United player signed by Jim McLean and played in the 1979 League Cup Final winning team; a group of players who brought the first piece of silverware back to Tannadice. He also did this in a 1979 match with Anderlecht that pushed United past the Belgian giants and paved the way for the European forays they would enjoy later in the decade.
Our condolences go out to his family, in particular his wife Amanda who has campaigned for free health care to be allowed for people under the age of 65 battling dementia.
